surch er crerturve tirtle. Translation: Such a creative title.
looooooooool i kind of had fun with this.
i mean a lot of fun : P
uuuuuuuuuhhhhh anyway. Yeah I know the ship is lopsided-ish and looks kinda wonky
but i really don't care atm loloooo
fun fact: this took EXACTLY 4 hours. on the minute. Started at about 5:04 PM and ended at 9:04 PM. in photoshop cs5
really tried working with composition practice, [because i'm awful at compositions] and atmospheric effect yet keeping detail. [which was also hard because im awful at it.] I also tried doing a universe in which the ground is not level. xD first time trying it, and i do like the results.
Cons the first thing that majorly bugs me in this drawing is the spaceship. The concept is unoriginal but it works. The thing is the slopiness of the whole thing. It looks crooked and lopsided, and to be blunt it looks very lazily done. To improve it I would suggest more detail, and define the lines and shapes more. The next thing is the figure under the light. It just doesn't fit with the drawing itself, and it just seems to clutter the thing. The picture would be better off have a smaller figure, or no figure at all under the UFO light. Next is the purple hues in the sky. It makes no sense. The light beam should not affect any of the sky colors not pictured through the light itself, so the sky should just be shades of blue/purple/ whatever. The background rocks to the far left of the drawing bug me. They seem crooked and..un needed? I thought they were trees at first. I think the drawing itself would be better off without them.
pros The lighting is pretty good, as well as the storms clouds, they're a nice addition to the piece. The rocks in the foreground is very nice and details, kudos to you for taking the time to add that detail.
Just a warning my critiques can get wordy! The ship was what first caught my eye. Nice movement with the glowing purple beam. Though I've seen the theme many times before-being the stereotypical alien abduction-there's a uniqueness to this abduction. I interpreted the figure as accepting the circumstances, or perhaps an ally or inhabitant of the other creatures in the ship. I love the linear and organic contrast of the cliffs and the clouds, the beam and the stars. The way the beam's glow merges into the glow of the stars provides more movement and creates a supernatural effect. I also enjoy the multiple textures used throughout the entire piece. The shading is very well done, and the blurred cliffs in the background and the cliffs in the foreground frame the scene nicely. The only problem I have is the difference in detail between the linear objects and the organic objects. This is a recurring theme in other pieces I've seen, so I assume that it is very difficult to match the detailing. The lines on the foreground cliff just seem to be more sketch like than the rest of the semi-realistic piece. However, it does not take away from the initial detailing. Overall, very beautiful! Love the color scheme.
That is cool. Hey, remember I said I watched the Dimstar's Past video? Well, I was thinking if you could teach me to draw cats. My friend says I'm horrible (and no I do not take offense) and I don't know how to improve other than watching others. Please respond.
I simply think all of the color and light and effects and GAH. You did this so well. I just- Wow. I think the canyon walls look amazing. I feel like can almost touch them. :U I also like the small figure with all of the glow focused on it. That. Spaceship. Is BEAUTIFUL. I love the shading on it.
Lol the small blikkim looks so tiny. But it has enough detail to make it stand out. I like the sky too! The stars are shiny and bright : D
AND. MY favorite part. Is the glow. Tis all about the glow. And it's purpleness.

Thats about it, hope I didn't offend you to much~
