When I saw this in my Deviantwatch, my reaction was just wow. The colours, the background and rusty's face were all perfect. I had looked at the picture before I saw the name and I was surprised that it was by Xurnam because it isn't recognisable as her work, which is a good thing. I had seen her other realisms as well and I think that this is one of her best.
But... when I clicked on the picture to get a closer look, I can't deny that I felt a slight bit disappointed. Let me explain, the background, the colours and Rusty's face were still perfect. I also noticed that I loved the smaller details like his nose, whiskers and collar but... I think the fur detail could be better.
Now, before you kill me, the fur detail is very nice and well done but I think it's a little too corse. I noticed this with some of Xurnam's other works as well and I remember that I thought it took away from the impact then.
Again, the fur detail is very well done so this could be a choice in style but I can't help but think that if the fur was a little softer it would look more realistic and the finished result would have a better impact. This is just my opinion, though, so please no hate if you completely disagree. I still love the picture and I look forward to other realisms by Xurnam.
As for any other criticisms, I have none. I noticed that some other people didn't like the trees or the grass so much but I disagree. I am in love with background along with the colours and the lighting.
I love the texture and the grass but I think the tree would look better if you put a bit more texture?
This is the most most beautiful artwork I have ever seen you got talent?
The light shinig to rusty or whoever the cat is, its beautiful.
The lighter texture on the fur is also very very beautiful.
The background needs a little realistic
Look though so as the grass too.
The eyes would look better if you did it a bit glowing.
